In addition, the order does not restrict essential employees from traveling to Metro District facilities for work. Adjustments to daily routines The Metro District is taking extraordinary measures to protect the health and safety of our employees, vendors, contractors, and communities as the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to evolve. Adjustments to daily routines will provide continuity of treatment plant operations – which is necessary for public health and safety and continued environmental regulatory compliance. The district works with 60 local governments, including cities, sanitation districts, and water and sanitation districts. They, in turn, provide retail wastewater service to about 2 million people in a 715 square-mile service area. Our mission is to protect the region's health and environment by cleaning water and recovering resources.
